SALE!!!
Note to Readers:
My girl Nicci, of Me oh My fame, is selling a few of her gently used items of clothing here. Nicci is the kind of girl who always looks amazing, and now we are getting a chance to literally shop through her closet! Don't worry I have already purchased a few of my favorites. Anyway, I thought you might want to give it a look as well.
Happy hunting!

Happy Holiday Season!
Note to Readers:
Those of you who know me, know that there are few things I love more than the Holiday season. Something about the chill in the air, and the subtle scent of cinnamon everywhere that puts a smile on my face. Do you know what else I love? This Lanvin dress! Wouldn't it be perfect to wear to a holiday party? The soft draped fabric looks like it would be comfortable too, which helps because I can never say no to a slice of pumpkin pie!
Note to Cate Blanchett:
What really is there to say? Porcelain skin, beautiful features, great hair, charming accent, and killer style. Love you, and love you in Lanvin.
Note to Jennifer Hudson:
LOOKING SO GOOD! I hate it when someone loses weight and people say, "You look so much better". You have always been a beauty. A talented one too... must be nice to have that singing voice. When people have better figures after having babies, it really gives me hope. Anyway, you are looking smashing, and this Lanvin is an excellent choice for your figure. Which makes me think it is uber-versatile because it is equally flattering on you and Cate who have different looks and body-types.
Additional Note to Readers:
Le Sigh, the holiday season--and its fashions are making me swoon.
Also, I worked on a job this week that is going to blow your minds. (I signed a confidentiality agreement, so you know its going to be good) Can't wait until I can share it with you all.
xx,
Lisa

Rue Magazine
Note to Readers:
Tuesday I had the opportunity to be in a photo shoot for Rue Magazine. If you haven't heard of Rue yet, allow me to introduce you, please click here for a fabulous find.
The lovely ladies at Rue are doing a feature on The Girls With Glasses. Have you met the Girls With Glasses yet? Allow me to introduce you. You remember Brooke White from American Idol, the other girl with glasses is Summer Bellessa, editor of Eliza Magazine.
Anyway, I obviously can not post anything from the shoot until Rue does, but I will keep you all posted. In the meantime, I just wanted to let you all know what was going on.
Note to Rue Magazine:
Thank you for a hosting such a fun party, and by party I mean photo shoot that was so fun it felt like a party! I can't wait to see what other fun ideas you lovely ladies have up your sleeves.
Note to the Girls With Glasses:
Thank you for including me in the shoot. Summer, you know I adore you and Brooke I feel really bonded somewhere in between hair back-combing and photo-booth chinese firedrills. Hope to see you beauties again soon.

A little bit of a Girl Crush...
Note to Rashida Jones:
I love every thing about this photo. This is not from a photo shoot, it is a candid shot of you relaxing. The fedora to the pretty floral dress and minimal makeup and jewelry are a perfect 'laid back' look. I like that your look is well put together, but doesn't look overly styled. Also, I kind of miss you on The Office. Another guest starring episode perhaps? (photo found here, warning you may die of jealousy of Gisele's post-baby bod)
Note to Readers:
You've heard it from me before... sorry I haven't been blogging... life is busy... blah blah blah. I am turning into a broken record lately. Thank you for reading, and I will try to be better for you. J'adore you all!

VMA's 2010
Note to Readers:
I am so sorry for neglecting you lately, life has been crazy-busy. I have missed you all, and missed giving you my two cents about the wonderful world of fashion. Tonight was the MTV VMAs. I don't have cable right now (a giant LE SIGH!), so I didn't see the show, but you better believe I looked up what people were wearing! Without further delay... here are my thoughts about a few of the hits and misses of the night:
Note to Rihanna:
You are pretty much the definition of fierce, and you have an incredibly enviable figure, but let's be honest... this ensemble is not showing either. It looks like you are doing some kind of tribute to Madonna and Carrie's Sex and the City opening look, but this is not my favorite look on you. I do appreciate that you went for a more feminine look, it is always nice to change it up. I like your hair/headband as well. So maybe I just am not a fan from the neck down? Sorry, please don't hate me. I'm still Team Rihanna.
Note to Taylor Swift:
Speaking of loving when people change it up, I love your old Hollywood waves and vampy lipstick! Your look is very glamorous and I love it! What happened to your shoes though? Maybe it was explained in the show, and I just didn't see it? I just don't understand having a definite head-to-toe look, but forgetting the toe part? Anyway... I like the dramatic look.
Note to Lady Gaga:
Speaking of dramatic looks... you definitely brought the drama. You are wearing a look from the late Alexander (Lee) McQueen's final collection, and I think he would be proud. Sometimes your looks are too crazy for me (for example the Kermit the frog stuffed animal neckline outfit), this one however I think is fitting for your ever-evolving persona.
Well... that's it for now. I am not going highlight Katy Perry's attempt at wearing high-fashion (Marchesa's figure skating costume of a dress), or the fact that Ke$ha's braid reminded me of Jenny Humphrey's season finale hair. I need to get some rest, I think this is going to be a good week everyone.

Must Be Nice...
Note to Gisele:
Uhhh... remember how you just had a baby? Being pregnant really damaged your body for life. Hopefully you are able to find a way to support yourself not involving your appearance, because I don't want you to have false hope that you will have your supermodel career back.
Note to Readers:
Some girls really have all the luck. I mean not only is Gisele gorgeous, she has beautiful hair, and a killer bod. Don't misconstrue this post as being negative, I am not into bashing people out of envy. I am really more in awe of her perfection. I have read that she is very into eating healthy, and she is also diligent about exercise. So at least she isn't saying she got her body back while eating KFC and watching Jersey Shore.

My Mind... Blown
Sundance from Ryan Southwell on Vimeo.
Note to Readers:
This may be a bit off topic, but I just received part of Ben and my wedding video and (maybe I am biased) but it is oh so good! I want to post it on this blog, as opposed to my personal blog because I want to spread the word about the amazing Ryan Southwell. My girl, Nicci, told me about him and I am so glad I was able to hire him for Ben and my wedding vid.
If you have ANYTHING you need a videographer for, run to Ryan, don't walk. (Or send him an email, that's probably easier)
Note to Ryan:
Thank you so, so much for capturing our wedding day so beautifully. You were also really fun to have around on our wedding day (which is good, considering how much time we spent with you!) There was no Kelly Clarkson, or me twirling, but I think it turned out ok. (kidding, obviously)

Summery Indeed
Note to Summer Glau:
Admittedly, I am on quite a stripes kick, but I have to say I adore your dress! I am not familiar with the brand, Corey Lynn Calter, but apparently I need to be. I like that you belted it, and paired it with nude heels, fun earrings, and beachy waved hair. Too many accessories can really weigh down a summer ensemble, so I think you are styled wisely. You wore this look to Comi-Con in San Diego, and you definitely dressed appropriately for the occasion and season (are you taking notes Angelina?) Anyway, well done, you are definitely making your name proud.
It's kind of funny, but I feel like you have to be pretty with the name Summer. Seriously, all of the Summers I know are gorgeous. Maybe if I have a girl someday, I will name her Summer, so the odds are in her favor. Now that I have typed out Summer so much, it doesn't seem like a real word, does that ever happen to you?
Note to Readers:
Am I the only one totally feeling stripes these days? I have had to consciously stop trying on striped dresses/skirts/tops, because I am becoming (gasp) one-noted in my sartorial choices. Stripes are just so fun to wear in the summer though... I just need to wear them in moderation. If you see me around, and I am in stripes, don't be surprised but know I am trying to change it up.

Yawn
Note to Angelina Jolie:
We get it. You are so pretty you don't need to worry about wearing color or anything, and you will still look smashing. Are you getting a little bit bored of wearing black? We all know it is a great universal color, but enough is enough. This photo was taken at Comicon in San Diego, we are in the middle of summer and you are in black leather? Let's lighten things up a bit, ok?
Note to Readers:
Black is one of my go-to colors when I feel like I need to look good, and I don't have time to throw together something new. So I am not knocking wearing black, by any means. I am just saying, if you are Angelina Jolie, and you have designers and stylists at your beck and call don't you think you would be able to incorporate a little bit of variety into your wardrobe?

Something Borrowed
Note to Readers:
Have you read Something Borrowed? I read it a few years ago and loved it, and I am beyond excited for the movie to come out. It has already wrapped filming, and has Kate Hudson, Ginnifer Goodwin, and newlywed John Krasinski in starring roles. I will be the first to admit that it is not thought-provoking, change the way you think, type of fiction. It is a perfect breezy summer read, and I hope the movie will due the book justice. Photos from filming kept popping up on people.com, and I am counting down to see the movie. Hudson's glamorous Darcy is well balanced by natural beauty Goodwin's Rachel. According to IMDB it doesn't come out until 2011... le sigh.
Additional Note to Readers:
I am in a wee bit of a book rut. Any suggestions? I just finished The Help (loved it), The Heart of the Matter (hated it), and am thinking about reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society next.

Weekend of Weddings
Note to Readers:
It was a big weekend for beautiful brides. Both Carrie Underwood and Emily Blunt tied the knot this weekend to their respective grooms Mike Fisher and John Krasinski. It has been reported that Carrie wore a gown by Monique Lhuillier made of Chantilly Lace. Emily wore a dress by Marchesa created out of embroidered cream chiffon. Le Sigh, now if they would only release the pictures so we could see these creations!
Note to Carrie Underwood and Emily Blunt:
Congratulations on your weddings! You are probably busy with your honeymoons and such, but if you get a chance, do you mind releasing at least one photo of you in your wedding dresses? I know weddings are private, and it is really none of my business to see them, but I love wedding dresses.
I have an idea, I'll show you mine if you show me yours? (I bet that is hard to turn down because you two have probably been dying to see my wedding dress...)

Baby Love
Note to Becky Newton:
You are one of my favorites. You (and your outfits) might be what I miss most about Ugly Betty. I don't know what you are like in real life, but I do know that your real life style is killer as well. This leads me to believe I would love real life Becky as much as I love Ugly Betty's Amanda. Anyway, enough gushing, it was just confirmed that you and your husband are expecting a baby. CONGRATS! I hope you are still a red-carpet regular so we can see how your style evolves throughout your pregnancy.
Note to Readers:
I love to see how people's style evolves as their lives do. Whether it is for expecting a baby, fluctuations in weight, lifestyle changes, or just style changes, I like to see the different clothing choices people make. When I graduated college I took a job at an office where I had to dress more professionally than my college uniform of jeans and sweatshirts. It was fun picking out different button up shirts, skirts and dress pants. I definitely felt more grown up. I noticed when I started styling and working with models frequently, I often wore heels or wedges so I didn't feel like a midget around them. A lot of my friends have had or are having babies, and it is fun to see how they still keep aspects of their original style and modify it to accomodate their changing bodies.
Maybe I just love clothes, and how people choose to represent themselves with what they wear. I'm not the only one right?

WIPEOUT!
(Actual photo of my friend Jill)
My girl, Jill is going to be on ABC's Wipeout tonight! Tune in and check her out. Jill is the epitome of a beautiful California Surfer Girl, and I can't wait to see her on the Wipeout obstacles. This post may not be fashion related, but I think it is awesome that Jill tried out and made it on the show. I can't tell you how many times I have watched a show and thought to myself, "I would love to try that". I love that Jill actually went for it. Being fun and spontaneous enough to be on a televised game show, definitely fashionable in my book.
Note to Jill:
I can't wait to watch you tonight. You really are one of the coolest people I know. Whether it be a random dance party in your mom's 80s jazzercise outfits, practicing tricks on the indo-board, or going to the Ellen Show, you are always one of the most fun people to be around that I know. I love you, and good luck! (even though it is already filmed and over with, I am dying to see how far you make it!)
(Photo of Jill and Me)
UPDATE: SPOILER ALERT!!!!
Jill dominated and won a cool $50,000. This keeps getting more and more awesome. Way to make us proud Jilly!

What's Better than a Wedding?
A Royal Wedding!!!
Note to Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria:Congrats on your big day Saturday! I hope that you are off enjoying a perfect honeymoon somewhere with your new husband. I love the simplicity in the design of your shoulder-bearing Par Engsheden wedding gown. I think it was wise to go with a sophisticated and sleek design, considering the lengthy train of your dress. Also, I like that your dress was subtly sexy but not overtly revealing. Something about a royal wedding with a backless or cleavage bearing gown does not quite fit. The best thing you wore on your wedding day, besides your killer tiara, is your radiant smile.
PS. I LOVE that your husband wore his glasses on your wedding day. Very GQ, if you ask me.
Note to Readers:
As I am looking through the photos of the guests at this wedding, I can't help but feel a little bit envious of the tiaras, adorning many of the womens' heads. I wonder if the tiara-less guests felt inferior to those wearing the tiaras. If I were invited, I might wear one regardless of status. Do you really think that someone would have the audacity to ask me if I was really a princess or queen of somewhere? If they did, and I honestly replied, do you think I would be asked to remove it?
Hmmmm.... I guess I am a little rusty on my Royal Wedding etiquette.
UPDATE:
Want to know more about this wedding, or see more photos? Please click here. (I like the coverage of the wedding best on that site.

Back-to-Back
Note to the Lakers:
YESSSSS! Nicely done tonight! I appreciate that you thought the only thing that would look better on you than purple and gold, is a championship ring. You guys sure know how to accessorize.
Note to the Bryant Family:
I couldn't find a picture, but the sequined Laker dresses on your little girls were precious. I can't say the same about the bedazzled leather jacket that Vanessa (Bryant) sported. It is one thing to wear your husband's team colors, but I find it hard to believe that was the best option. Or maybe it was a friend's design, and you felt like you had to wear it? Kind of like that Seinfeld episode with the puffy pirate shirt? Yeah, let's go with that theory.
ANYWAY... Go Lakers! Holla.

Loving Lea
Note to Lea Michele:
I absolutely love your gown for last night's Tony Awards. That Zac Posen really knows how to make a dress. The seams on the bodice are gorgeous, and don't get me started on how much I love the color! It reminds me a lot of this stunning look. I like that you kept your hair and accessories simple, so they didn't compete with your gown. You remind me of Sandra Bullock in this photo, and that is a good thing. Also, I like the new bangs. Nicely done.
Note to Readers:
As you could tell by my gushing above, I liked a lot of things about this look. The most important thing, when you are wearing a bold color is to make sure the color looks good on you. Sometimes I will love an item of clothing because of a standout color, but when I try it on, the color just doesn't work with my skin tone. Just because you like something on the hanger, does not necessarily mean you should get it.
I highly recommend trying on new colors, because sometimes colors you don't think will work on you will, and vice-versa.
Also, I haven't watched Glee, but it seems like people love it. Do you think I should get into it?

Maybe I am bragging...
Note to Readers:
Do you remember when I blogged about this photo shoot? Well it turns out one of the photos is now gracing the cover of a German magazine. I am so excited I can hardly contain myself, the first photo that I styled to end up on a cover. What makes it even better is that I will always remember my first cover was with one of my favorite models, one of my favorite makeup artists, and (you guessed it) one of my favorite photographers.
Now... is anyone going to be in Germany this month? I would love a few copies!
UPDATE: For Nicole, the open cardigan was from Urban Outfitters, so definitely affordable. They don't have that exact one anymore, but I found this one, which is the same idea. Happy hunting!

ATTENTION UTAHNS!
Note to Readers:
Supermodel Ali Stephens is hosting an amazing event tomorrow (JUNE 8th) at Fairmont Park in Salt Lake, starting at 6:30 pm. There will be a skate exhibition with pro-skaters, live bands, an unveiling of a mural, all to celebrate world ocean day.
If you are in the area you should check it out. They will also have limited edition t-shirts, co-designed by Ali herself. I spoke with her about the event, and she is really passionate about raising awareness about Ocean Conservation. As a lover of the beach, I fully support the cause!
Go check it out, you can thank me later.
Gwyneth Does it Again...
Note to Gwyneth:
How do you do it? The red carpet at the CFDA awards was a tough line up to compete with, but you definitely were a standout. You keep looking better and better, and you looked amazing to begin with. I love that you can change your look a lot (going from a sophisticated suit, to an ethereal white gown, to looking downtown chic in jeans, to bohemian in your casual clothes) but you never look anything less than elegant and classy.
Le sigh. I love the not so basic black Michael Kors dress, with the sleek ponytail and bronzed skin. No wonder your husband writes such amazing songs, you are quite a muse!
Note to Readers:
Am I beginning to sound like a broken record with my Gwen praises? If I am, I apologize, but if she keeps looking incredible I don't see the praise stopping anytime soon.
Who are your fashion goddesses?

MTV Movie Awards
Note to Katy Perry:
Either you don't read my blog, or you are just not paying attention. The latter is probably more likely. Remember when I wrote this post? You have succeeded in making your last look appear classy and demure. Now, I wonder what you will come up with next to make this look better...
Note to Readers:
Am I the only one that does not get the blue wig? I am actually in a serious hair rut right now, but at no point in time do I think that by donning a blue wig it will improve the situation.
On a positive note, I like her shoes and I guess the blue hair brings out her blue eyes?

Pants, Optional
Note to Pop Singers:
When did wearing pants become optional? Honestly, I understand when dancers wear just leotards for functional reasons. My question is, what is the function of wearing lingerie or leotards, combined with stilettos, and an obscene amount of rhinestones or glitter? Some of the worst offenders are Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, and the above, Miley Cyrus who is deciding to rock this trend. (I know Lady Gaga does this too, but I feel like she is in her own fashion world, and I could write a book just about her sartorial selections) I know you are trying to be edgy and wear no pants, but it isn't really edgy when all of you are doing it. Please put some pants on. Merci.
Note to Readers:
I apologize if the above pic is offensive. I am just trying to make a point. Are you all ok with this no pants craze?

Sample Sale
Note to Readers (especially in the LA area):
I love sample sales, and there is an awesome Cynthia Vincent one THIS FRIDAY (May 28th) from 11-3 at 860 S. Los Angeles Street Suite 422 in Los Angeles.
The last time I went to a Cynthia Vincent sample sale I picked up a gorgeous cashmere sweater, and a killer top for next to nothing. They are accepting cash and credit cards.
I won't be able to make it, but I hope some of you will. Maybe pick me up something nice? merci.

Oh Suri...
Note to Suri Cruise:
Apparently you liked something when you were shopping in the Barney's shoe department with your mom. The look on your face is priceless in this pic. Congrats on winning our 'Most Fashionable Celebrity Offspring' poll. You definitely deserve it and we will all enjoy watching your style evolve. Also, don't you worry, the shoes at Barney's will fit you soon enough.
Note to Readers:
Thank you for voting in the poll. I think this picture is classic, and it shows that the girl definitely has an interest in fashion. A girl after my own heart.

Me Oh My!
Note to Readers:
I would like to introduce you to my girl Nicci. (photographed with her picture perfect little family)
Not only is she beautiful and the mother of my precious goddaughter, but she has amazing style and she started one of my favorite new blogs. It is good for recipes, book recommendations, home decor DIY projects, and great for getting a little inspiration. Please check her out, I promise you won't regret it. (Also she may have just posted about my wedding, sweet thing, so you can go there for a peek into Ben and my big day)
Maybe this post wasn't specifically fashion related, but she does have style tips sometimes... and spreading the word about a friend is always fashionable in my book.

SO PRETTY!
Note to Naomi Watts:
Hellooooo Naomi! You look so beautiful in this Giorgio Armani gown at the Cannes Film Festival. As far as I know you and Liev have not tied the knot yet, and if you plan on it... you may have already found the dress. Maybe it's because I just got married and I have weddings on the brain, but I think this gown would be the most beautiful wedding dress. I mean, this dress is reason enough to have a wedding, at least I think so.
Note to Readers:
I love that this gown is both structured and feminine, and I am dying over the different textured layers. le sigh. Giorgio Armani, you stole my heart today.

Crimes of Photoshop
Note to Jennifer Aniston:
I really adore you. Friends is still one of my favorite shows, and I always want hair like you. You have a classic sense of style, and you look AMAZING (for your age or otherwise). What I want to know is... why did the people at Smart Water photoshop this photo so much? You look like a hybrid between you and Victoria Beckham. Your bod looks amazing though, I bet they didn't photoshop it a bit.
Note to Readers:
I appreciate a little retouching here and there, but I hate it when it gets carried away. Jennifer Aniston is a beautiful woman, and I don't understand why she was retouched with such a heavy hand? What is wrong with showing a little wrinkle here and there? It would go to show the rest of us that you can be beautiful without being flawless.
Ok, I'll get off my soapbox now.

DIVA ALERT!
Note to Naomi Campbell and Jennifer Lopez:
You two were photographed at an event at the Cannes Film Festival. I don't know if you two are friends or not, but if you are, it wouldn't surprise me. Jen (can I call you that?) while your one-shoulder ornamentation may be on the large side, if anyone can wear something like this, it is you. (Imagine someone like Kate Bosworth in this, she would disappear!) Naomi, in fear of ever meeting you in person, (and then your cell phone meeting my head) I will refrain from commenting on your ensemble.
Note to Readers:
I am usually not afraid to write about anyone, but for some reason I have a feeling Naomi could track me down. What do you think of her look? Comment if you are brave enough!

Met Costume Institute Gala: Diane Kruger
Note to Diane Kruger:
I must admit, I can't decide if I am obsessed with your look or if I think it is a little bit boring. One one hand, the long sleeved, long, fitted white gown could be perceived as a little lackluster. On the other hand, no one else wore anything like this and its simplicity could almost be described as cutting edge.
Your red carpet selections are usually a little bit different than what everyone else decides to wear, and I appreciate it. With your model's figure and beautiful features, its kind of hard for you to go wrong.
Note to Readers:
What do you think? Is this look gorgeous or boring?

Met Costume Institute Gala: Emma Watson
Note to Emma Watson:
Now I understand the term 'white hot'. You look amazing in this Burberry dress, and I love the asymmetrical top and the fitted bodice. I am sure every write up about you mentions how you have grown up since you first showed up as Hermione, so I am not even going to mention that. All I have to say is you are rapidly making your way to the top of my red carpet favorites; young woman, ingenue, woman or otherwise.
Note to Readers:
What I love about this look is Emma looks elegant, grown up, a bit sultry, but she still looks like herself. Sometimes when actresses find fame as a teen, they struggle trying to find their adult style. She doesn't have to overtly show she is not a kid anymore, she embodies the look. Do you think it's too late for Lindsay Lohan to take notes?
Seriously though, is la Lohan a lost cause? I digress, that could be an entire blog on its own.

Met Costume Institute Gala: Katy Perry
Note to Katy Perry:
Ok, we get it, you like being the center of attention. I guess we should just be glad you aren't wearing any fruit.
Note to Readers:
Am I being too critical of this? I just feel like the neon light-installed dress along with the up-to-where slit held open to show her leg, is overkill. I think she has a cool pin-up girl vibe, but I am not sure where having a dress with a light switch fits into it.
Or maybe I am just jealous because she reminds me of Zooey, and I loooooove Zooey.
Monday, May 10, 2010
Met Costume Institute Gala: Camilla Belle
Note to Camilla Belle:
Let's be honest, you are stunning, and have a long and lean figure. Finding something that will look good on you isn't exactly tough. With that said, I adore your Jason Wu gown paired with classic Cartier jewelry. I appreciate that you took note of the occasion (Hello, when Vogue is one of the partners of the event, you better WORK that red carpet!) and dressed up for it. Also, the color is sublime with your dark hair and pretty skin tone. Nicely done. You have now graduated from dating teen pop stars, and you are ready for grown up. Maybe Jake Gyllenhaal? Just a thought.
Note to Readers:
We all know how I feel about the Costume Institute Gala (for a refresher click here). A lot of people wore short dresses on the red carpet. I like showing a little leg as much as the next girl, but a dramatic long gown can go a long way.

GIVEAWAY!
Note to Readers:
Thanks for coming back after my honeymoon hiatus! I have a sweet treat for you! The amazing team at PONO Accessories, have sent over this dream of a necklace for one of you lucky readers to win! (You may remember PONO by Joan Goodman from this post)
This is the Spectrum Choker and it was made in Italy of resin links with a mustard ombre dying. I love anything in the yellow/golden family and anything ombre, so this choker is one of my favorite ways to bring some unexpected color to an otherwise plain outfit. Each link is hand dyed to get the specific shades and colors.
(Retail price is $135 and can be purchased HERE **)
I think this choker is a great addition to a Spring and Summer wardrobe.
Would you like to enter the giveaway? It is simple.
Please leave a comment and you will automatically be entered.
For multiple entries:
1. become a Fashion Noted Follower
2. post about this giveaway (with a link) on Facebook
3. post about this giveaway (with a link) on Twitter
4. post about this giveaway on your blog or website (of course with a link)
5. Become a fan of PONO on Facebook here
*In your comment please note if you should receive multiple entries, and how many. I know you will all be honest, but just in case our team will be checking. (and by team, I mean me and maybe Ben will help me out too.)
Good luck everyone! Entries will be accepted until Saturday, May 8th at midnight (PST).
**UPDATE- I was just informed that the necklace can actually be purchased HERE. (The above link is where you can buy PONO's sale items, so I will leave it in the post. Who doesn't like a sale?)

Note to Zoe Saldana:
This orange Lanvin confection is beautiful on you. I like that your accessorized it with gold, but you did it wisely and let the gorgeous tangerine color of the dress take center stage. (Sorry I couldn't resist, I love you in that movie) Your makeup and hair looks as flawless as your beautiful skin. You may have been at the Death at a Funeral premiere, but you my dear, are alive and kicking.
Note to Readers:
This dress gets me excited for the vibrant colors of spring and summer clothes. Although, let's be honest, we all know I like wearing colorful clothing year round. This is a great example of wearing a color that complements, not fights with your skin tone.

Fashionable Family
Note to Reese, Ava and Deacon:
I am loving your looks at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll yesterday. Reese, your classic white look fits well and it looks appropriate for a spring garden party. Ava, I love your yellow dress. The loose fit belted on you is darling, and I like that you paired it with some gladiator sandals. Deacon, what can I even say but I love that you wore a checked shirt with an orange tie and shoelaces. I also appreciate that you didn't wear full length pants. You (or whoever dresses you) pays attention to details, and those little things make a huge difference! I bet you three were one of the best-dressed families in DC.
Note to Readers:
Ok, we all know I am a big fan of Reese, but one of the things I like the most about her is she is always dressed appropriately. Meaning she selects clothing that is right for the occasion, and for her age. I am happy to see this extends to her family too. Her children are dressed properly for attending a White House event, but they still look like kids. I like that you can see a bit of their personalities through their outfits as well. It keeps things from getting too stuffy.

Engagement Photos
Note to Readers:
A couple months ago, my fiance Ben and I took our engagement photos. Since the invitations are out now, a lot of friends have asked me about the clothing we wore in the pics.
Selecting the clothing for these photos turned out to be kind of a challenge for me for a few reasons:
1. I select clothing for photo shoots for a living, so I felt a little bit of pressure to make sure Ben and I were looking good.
2. It was beyond cold when we took these photos, but I didn't want us to be all bundled up in the pictures, so I had to choose style over comfort (and body heat).
3. I wanted us to look fashionable, but not trendy. We will have these photos forever, and I didn't want to look back on them embarrassed about our style in 2010!
So, I played with a few trends, high waisted skirts, skinny tie, skinny jeans, mixing prints, etc., but I tried not to take them too far. I also was on a budget, so I used items from different stores and price points and mixed them in with what we already had.
Would you like to know the details about our looks? I'll tell you anyway!
Look One (above photo):
On me- cardigan from H&M a few years ago, embroidered blouse Anthropologie, belt from Anthropologie sale section ($9.99!), skirt Anthropologie currently in the sale section if anyone is interested, shoes (not pictured) Steve Madden black sequined flats.
On Ben- shirt, tie and pants from H&M a year or two ago, and belt from Hurley from a few more years ago. (We used all things Ben already owned. I wanted to keep his clothing a little bit more on the basic side because mine had a lot of color and prints going on.)
On me- cardigan from Old Navy, blouse from Anthropologie, jeans by Paige Denim from Nordstrom around Christmas, flats from Urban Outfitters a few years ago.
On Ben- shirt and sweater from H&M (Ben gets a lot of his dress shirts and ties from there, because he likes the European Slim Fit shirts. He is kind of picky about the fit of his clothes, sound familiar?) jeans from his own closet I think they are from the DKNY outlet in Vegas, and his shoes are Steve Madden.
So, when selecting photos for engagement photos, family photos, or anything else where you will keep them around for a while, my suggestion is to look current, but not too trendy. Also, although it is nice to wear all new clothes, if you are on a budget, buy a few fun pieces and supplement your basics from what you already have.
All photos by the amazingly talented Jonathan Canlas. I really can't say enough good things about him. He had Ben, who does not like having his photos taken, laughing and smiling the entire time.
Note to Ben-
I can't wait to get married to you in 12 days! I am thinking you are going to like my wedding dress, and I am excited for you to see my biggest fashion moment yet!!!

Goddess Gwyneth
Photo from Just Jared
Note to Gwyneth Paltrow:
Wow. I'm pretty speechless right now. This Elie Saab dress you wore to the Laureus World Sports awards was beyond gorgeous. Everything from the color, to the beaded details, to your glowing skin, and loose curls created an ethereal head-to-toe look that I am obsessed with! Well done, GP.
Note to Readers:
I love looking at red carpet looks, but I don't really have the invitations or resources to utilize these kinds of looks. They are just fun to look at. I love to think about what I would wear, (including jewelry and shoes) if I were to attend one of these events. What would you want to wear?

Oscar Report
Note to Sandra Bullock:
I am so excited for your big Academy Award win! You looked gorgeous. I loved your gold Marchesa dress and your pretty pink lips. It was a beautiful look, and I like that you still looked like you. Sometimes people go a little overboard on the hair and makeup and are unrecognizable. I'm glad you didn't fall into that trap.
Also, I loved your speech. It was equal parts funny and touching and it showed what a classy woman you are. Congrats.
Note to Readers:
It is probably no surprise that I love the red carpet more than I like the actual awards ceremony. Who do you think were the best and worst dressed?

You Know You Love...
photo from people.com
Note to Leighton:
I am obsessed with your colorful coat/cape in this picture. I love the grass green color, with the polka dotted scarf under, and the sunny yellow purse. Apparently the shoes on the ground are a part of the Gossip Girl scene you were filming. Anyway, I hope you are not mad about this post I wrote. I really think you have darling style 99% of the time, and the above photo is a perfect example of how well you wear clothing. Can we still be friends?
Note to Readers:
As you can tell by this post, I love colorful coats in the winter. It is so easy to get into a black and grey wardrobe rut in the winter, don't succumb to it! Keep your wardrobe fun and interesting with unexpected bursts of color.
Also, become a follower of my blog! (was that too bossy?) I promise you will be glad you did. There are some sweet giveaways in the works, as soon as I can show I have a lot of followers. Scratch my back, and I will scratch yours.

Golden
Note to Shaun White:
Way to dominate tonight in the Olympic halfpipe! Watching the competition wasn't nearly as nerve-wracking this Olympics, seeing as you had the gold medal before your second run. Also, thank you for pulling an incredible Double McTwist. It is the Olympics, time to go big or go home. You probably don't remember when we took this photo at Sundance last year, but I hope you don't mind me posting it. You read Fashion Noted right?
Note to Readers:
So maybe this post wasn't really fashion oriented. I just wanted to re-post this picture... sue me.
As I was watching the halfpipe I realized I really do like the Burton snowboard uniforms. My only complaint is some of the boarders were wearing their pants so low! (I feel like my parents just writing that!) Honestly though, I don't know how the pants didn't end up around their ankles during their runs.
So now you know what my favorite winter Olympic sport is... what is yours?
Denim in the Snow?
Note to Burton:
Your company designed the 2010 Winter Olympics Snowboarding uniforms. It definitely turned heads. While I was watching boardercross (nice work Seth Wescott!) I couldn't believe what I was seeing, jeans as the snowboard pants? Really? The plaid and denim are definitely an homage to classic Americana. It also made the riders stand out. So maybe, job well done?
Note to Readers:
What do you think of the uniforms? I'm sure the denim was treated so it was functional and waterproof in the snow. Are these uniforms classic vintage-inspired American fashion? Or out of place on the slopes?

Find of the Day
Note to Readers:
How adorable is this necklace? I think it would be a great piece to wear with a variety of different outfits, and the neutral tones can be worn with many colors. Right now it is only $40 here. I was recently introduced to PONO a New York based accessories line created by Joan Goodman.
Apparently I am late to the game, because the accessories have already graced the pages of Teen Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and O Magazine. Fashionistas like Julianne Moore, Beyonce and Vanessa Williams are also fans of the line.
Right now they are having a sale where you get free shipping on orders of $50 or more. Just passing along the information.
Note to PONO:
If you were to send me the above necklace or any of your darling accessories, I definitely wouldn't complain.

Loss
Note to Alexander McQueen:
You will be missed, more than you could have imagined. Thank you for creating such beauty with your fashion for the rest of us to enjoy all of these years. I hope that you found whatever peace and happiness you were lacking. The world of fashion will not be the same without you.
Note to Readers:
Today is another truly sad day in the fashion world. Designer Alexander McQueen was found dead this morning of an apparent suicide. He was an incredible combination of creativity and construction know-how. I thought he was going to be one of his generations Lagerfelds or Valentinos, around forever, but important and relevant with every collection. We lost one of the great ones today.
Style.com's Tim Blanks wrote a touching tribute to McQueen. You can read it here. Also if you are not familiar with his incredible work, please click here and start going through the slideshows. He also was a favorite designer of many celebrities and fashionistas. Please click here to see some of his best red carpet moments.
One of my favorite McQueen looks from his FW 2008 collection. The combination of the expert construction paired with his creative vision is uniquely Alexander McQueen.
