Ruby Jane

Note to Readers:
This post is a little bit out of the ordinary, but it is important nonetheless! My sweet friend Ani has a baby girl, Ruby, who is only a few months old but was diagnosed with liver failure. She is currently awaiting a liver transplant and receiving excellent (but pricey) care from the experts at UCLA. This whole situation just breaks my heart.

Stella & Dot stylist Julie Krueger contacted my friend Jena of Just Cook Already fame, to have a Jewelry Sale Fundraiser. All the details are on the image above (you may have to enlarge it). The sale is already up and running, and lasts until Friday June 10th. So, if you feel like accessorizing, being charitable, or love a good sale, please visit stelladot.com/juliek

Also, if you would like to just donate money to little Ruby's medical care, you can visit her fundraising blog here.

Need a little more nudging? Let me tell you a little bit about Ani. When my husband had his appendix out in April, and I was in the midst of my all-day "morning sickness", Ani asked if she could help us in anyway. WHILE she was dealing with little Ruby's medical problems and keeping up with her beyond adorable 2 year old Kate. That's just the kind of selfless friend she is. Love her.

Princess Bride

Note to the Bride:
You look beautiful. The wait is over, now we all know you wore an Alexander McQueen dress designed by the house's creative director Sarah Burton. You also wore a Cartier tiara lent to you from the Queen herself, and diamond earrings that your parents gave you. I like that your accessories had significant sentimental value. You definitely look like the princess you now are.

There have been some complaints that your dress was too safe, and that it was too much like Grace Kelly's when she married the Prince of Monaco. Don't let the critics phase you. Your wedding photos will be referenced for decades, not to mention all of the people watching today. This was not the time to debut an avant garde, cutting-edge style, that will look dated in two hours. (I doubt Princess Diana thought her puffy sleeves were of-the-moment, but they definitely look eighties now)

Your dress compliments your slim figure, your makeup is simple and pretty, and your smile is a perfect accessory. This style will remain classic. If you are going to pay homage to a wedding dress, Grace Kelly's is the one to do it to.

Note to Readers:
What did you think of Kate's wedding day look? Keep in mind there are still luncheons, dinners, and parties tonight, where she will have a chance to change into something that is more current. (if she chooses to, of course) I originally thought the look was a little boring, but when I remembered the pressure on her, I think she was smart to wear something timeless to the actual wedding. I think this new Princess is a smart cookie.

Also, did you wake up to watch the wedding live? As much as I love a wedding (and I LOVE weddings), I waited until my normal wake up time to watch it. That's what DVR's are for, right?

Get Ready!

crewcuts photo

Note to Readers:
Ben and I just found out we are having a baby GIRL!!! It has been a serious exercise in self-restraint to wait 16 weeks to find out what we were having, until I started buying baby clothes!! Maybe I bought a couple of baby girl items, just in case. (They were too cute to pass up, and what if they weren't there when I went back?)

I have been really sick the past few months, hence the lack of blogging. (I could kill the person who named it "morning" sickness. If only it were just in the morning!!!)

Anyway, this mama-to-be is a TOTAL newcomer into the world of kids clothes, and I need help! What stores, sites, etsy shops, etc. do I NEED to know about? Please keep in mind, I am on a budget. Although if something is to die for, and a little pricey, please do share. That's what Grandma's are for right?!

Let me know! Love you all. (She is due in late Sept, in case you were wondering)

PS. I arranged for an AWESOME giveaway, as soon as we hit 150 followers.

I'm Confused

Note to Anne Hathaway:
I'm confused. I don't understand what's happening here. What part of fringed Gucci mini-dress means accessorize with gym hair and nerdy/hipster glasses. I can see the hair and glasses with a pair of skinny jeans a cool silk blouse or sweater, and some ankle boots or ballet flats. I can see the dress and shoes with a messy-updo or ponytail without the glasses. I just don't understand them together. I bet this look is making Rachel Zoe want to end her maternity leave.

Note to Readers:
I know this look was for a premiere of a children's movie, so the rules of fashion don't always apply. However, even if you are going to the grocery store, you want to make sure you are dressed appropriately. I wouldn't wear a floor length gown with a pair of Sketchers Shape ups, and I wouldn't wear a swimsuit and accessorize with ski goggles. What ever you decide to accessorize with, make sure it complements what you already have going on.

Happy Monday everyone!

PS. We are at 99 followers, I say we have a giveaway when we hit 150!!! I'm in contact with a few great sponsors now!

Beyond Cute

Note to Gwen Stefani:
I feel like my heart is literally warmer from looking at this picture. This was taken at the LAMB New York fashion week presentation. Rumor has it, Kingston was sitting front row, and when you were making your walk down the runway, he ran up to join you. Too cute. Also, love your whole look, as usual.

Note to Readers:
SO maybe I am gushing a little bit, but fashion week really brings out the best in me. I hope you have been checking out style.com and loving what you are seeing as much as I have been. Let's talk about Gwen for a minute. I appreciate that she has found a look that she likes (platinum hair, red lips) and she is sticking to it. Gone are the days of blue hair and braces, and it looks like this sophisticated siren is here to stay. I for one am thrilled about it.

Golden Globes '11

Note to Readers:
You all know how much I love red-carpet fashion. It is fun to imagine what it would be like if you were able to choose a gown from a top designer. I wonder what I would pick. I get excited to pick out an outfit for going on a date with Ben, so I can't even imagine how excited I would be to choose a gown from a designer to walk the red carpet! I'll share with you some of my favorites and least favorites from the night. (Keep in mind I haven't actually watched the ceremony, just looked at the photos)

Note to Anne Hathaway:
I'm going to be honest with you, sometimes I do not understand your style. However... tonight I am obsessed with it!!! In my mind I like to think that Stanley Tucci picked out this Armani Prive number for you, out of the magazine fashion closet in The Devil Wears Prada. This gown is a stunning color, it has a great shape, and I love the long sleeves. I love everything about it.

Note to Claire Danes:
I almost always love your style. This Calvin Klein halter dress really showcases your pretty shoulders and teeny waist. Let's be real for a second, I can't get over your petite frame and scuplted shoulders. I haven't event noticed the dress, color, silhouette etc., I am just dying over your pretty figure. Way to flaunt what you've got in a subtle manor. (Are you taking notes Katy Perry?)

Note to Megan Fox:
If I were you I would probably just wear a bikini everywhere. If I had to put a dress on though, this Armani Prive is a good choice. I like the texture and construction of the bodice paired with the un-complicated skirt. Very pretty, very classic, and very well done.

Note to Angelina Jolie:
Have you been reading Fashion Noted? Thank you for wearing a color other than black! This Versace gown is gorgeous. I love that so many celebrities embraced something other than strapless gowns. I hear I need to see The Tourist for our wardrobe alone, and I think I may have to do just that.

Note to Emma Stone:
This is hard for me because I love you. Seriously, I watched Easy A on my flight to Hawaii and then I watched it again on the way back. So please keep in mind, this is hard for me to write. This Calvin Klein dress is definitely not your best look. The dress is not supposed to match your bronzer. If it were in another color I think it could be a really nice minimalistic look on you, but the color is all wrong. Don't hate me?

Note to Halle Berry:
We get it. You are pretty, you have a great body, beautiful skin, don't even need hair to look pretty. I know you don't need an amazing dress to look amazing, but this look is putting me to sleep. Did you get it out of Jennifer Aniston or Angelina Jolie's closet? Sorry, that was kind of mean. I would still die to look like you, but I have seen you in some gorgeous gowns and this one is a little bit of a snoozer.

Note to Readers:
Who do you think shined on the Golden Globes red carpet? I would love to hear your opinions.

2011!

Note to Readers:
I hope you all had a safe and happy New Year's Eve, and that 2011 has many fashionable adventures in store for you. Thank you for reading my little blog, it really makes me smile knowing you are out there.

For some reason in 2010, Pants became optional...

Also, trash bags and beef became red carpet textiles. Who knows what 2011 will have in store for us!

I'm off for a little vacation, but I feel like 2011 is going to be a good year for us all.

Talk to you soon.

Lisa
