Golden Globes '11

Note to Readers:
You all know how much I love red-carpet fashion. It is fun to imagine what it would be like if you were able to choose a gown from a top designer. I wonder what I would pick. I get excited to pick out an outfit for going on a date with Ben, so I can't even imagine how excited I would be to choose a gown from a designer to walk the red carpet! I'll share with you some of my favorites and least favorites from the night. (Keep in mind I haven't actually watched the ceremony, just looked at the photos)


Note to Anne Hathaway:
I'm going to be honest with you, sometimes I do not understand your style. However... tonight I am obsessed with it!!! In my mind I like to think that Stanley Tucci picked out this Armani Prive number for you, out of the magazine fashion closet in The Devil Wears Prada. This gown is a stunning color, it has a great shape, and I love the long sleeves. I love everything about it.

Note to Claire Danes:

I almost always love your style. This Calvin Klein halter dress really showcases your pretty shoulders and teeny waist. Let's be real for a second, I can't get over your petite frame and scuplted shoulders. I haven't event noticed the dress, color, silhouette etc., I am just dying over your pretty figure. Way to flaunt what you've got in a subtle manor. (Are you taking notes Katy Perry?)

Note to Megan Fox:

If I were you I would probably just wear a bikini everywhere. If I had to put a dress on though, this Armani Prive is a good choice. I like the texture and construction of the bodice paired with the un-complicated skirt. Very pretty, very classic, and very well done.

Note to Angelina Jolie:

Have you been reading Fashion Noted? Thank you for wearing a color other than black! This Versace gown is gorgeous. I love that so many celebrities embraced something other than strapless gowns. I hear I need to see The Tourist for our wardrobe alone, and I think I may have to do just that.

Note to Emma Stone:

This is hard for me because I love you. Seriously, I watched Easy A on my flight to Hawaii and then I watched it again on the way back. So please keep in mind, this is hard for me to write. This Calvin Klein dress is definitely not your best look. The dress is not supposed to match your bronzer. If it were in another color I think it could be a really nice minimalistic look on you, but the color is all wrong. Don't hate me?

Note to Halle Berry:

We get it. You are pretty, you have a great body, beautiful skin, don't even need hair to look pretty. I know you don't need an amazing dress to look amazing, but this look is putting me to sleep. Did you get it out of Jennifer Aniston or Angelina Jolie's closet? Sorry, that was kind of mean. I would still die to look like you, but I have seen you in some gorgeous gowns and this one is a little bit of a snoozer.

Note to Katy Perry:

Either you don't read my blog, or you are just not paying attention. The latter is probably more likely. Remember when I wrote this post? You have succeeded in making your last look appear classy and demure. Now, I wonder what you will come up with next to make this look better...

Note to Readers:

Am I the only one that does not get the blue wig? I am actually in a serious hair rut right now, but at no point in time do I think that by donning a blue wig it will improve the situation.

On a positive note, I like her shoes and I guess the blue hair brings out her blue eyes?

This is taking it too far...

Note to Diane Kruger:

Usually I like your red carpet choices. Remember when I raved about you here? You wear clothing well and you have a unique sense of style. Not Lady Gaga unique, but unique in a way that you will wear fashion forward pieces from the top designers without a misstep. Except for this Versace beaded number. I guess you can't be right all the time.

Note to Readers:

There are a few things I love and one of them is a TASTEFUL backless dress. I think a woman showing a toned back can be so much more sexy than a plunging neckline. I thought it went without saying that if you can see the wearer's crack, the dress has gone too far. Apparently not.

Oscar Report

Note to Readers:

I hope you all enjoyed watching the Oscars as much as I did.  I decided instead of rushing to write reviews on all the looks last night, I am going to post a few looks a day this week.  At the end of the week I will post my favorite Oscar look.

Oscar Report: Beyonce

Note to Beyonce:

It's time to have another talk. This dress looks like a gaudy tapestry you would see hanging in Trump Tower. I know that was harsh, and I am feeling a little bad about picking on you, but I have decided it is time for some tough love. Stop dressing in your mom's House of Dereon collection, the designs are not polished enough for the Red Carpet.  I am not going to go into detail about how the design of the dress does nothing for your figure. I don't like any of it. Please, hire a stylist you are not related to.

Oscar Report: Jessica Biel

Note to Jessica Biel:

I can say that the color of your dress looks nice on you, and your makeup and accessories are well selected.  That is pretty much all of the positive I can draw from your look. Your Prada Gown had potential, except the few yards of fabric tucked into the top of your dress and then tucked it in at the waist.  Seriously though, you thought this looked good or flattering? C'mon your boyfriend has a clothing line, you couldn't have asked him for advice? I understand trying to use a big name brand, and trying to be fashion forward, but this is not the right way to do it. 

Dress Wars

Note to Kate Hudson:
You recently wore this catastrophe of a dress to an event where you knowingly were photographed.
What in the world were you thinking?

I guess I just don't get it. I don't get the sheer sleeve, or the weird palm tree leaf print. I don't get the stripper platform shoes, or the black and white cocktail rings with the ensemble. I just don't get it. You used to be such a highlight on the red carpet. Remember the 2003 Oscars when you looked luminous in a Versace gown? Here is a reminder...

So come on Kate, I know you can do it. Get a new stylist, spring for a new hair stylist and make up artist and let the beautiful Kate Hudson we all know and love shine through.

Note to Readers:
This goes to show you, even beautiful, skinny, blonde, actresses can have an off day. Even if we like how something looks on the hanger, it may not be the best garment for us. We all have colors, styles, silhouettes that flatter our individual figures. Don't use this as an excuse to let your wardrobe get stagnant. It is still fun to get dressed and try new trends and looks, just make sure you check a mirror before you leave the house.

Note to Whitney:
I'll admit it, I watch The Hills and I'll probably watch your new show, The City.  I generally like your style, and think that you are the sensible one on a show full of drama queens.  Until last night, you showed up to the Hills finale after party wearing this on your head...


The only possible explanation I can think of, is somehow Spencer made you do it. He really is the root of all evil on the show, right?

Note to Readers:
I am all for people making bold fashion statements, and for taking chances with their wardrobes. My advice is don't wear anything that you will be embarrassed about wearing in a few months. Pictures last forever my friends, and I am still feeling sheepish about some black satin pants I wore in high school. Have a great Holiday!
