Tres Tres Chic!

Note to Reese:
Your ensemble in this photo is parfait!  I love the monochromatic effect of the dress, with the jacket, and scarf, paired with the grey tights and taupe shoes.  Also, the uber-chic black sunglasses are always a good move, in the daylight and outside  (you may recall sunglasses indoors or at night are my pet peeve). I like that this look is timeless, this photo could be from five years ago, or ten years in the future and it would still ooze classic style.  Nicely done Reese.

Note to Readers:
When wearing a monochromatic look, it is important to play with the textures of the garments you are wearing, to keep things from getting boring.  The ruffles of the coat, paired with the slight sheen of the scarf are a nice combination.  Also, tights are a huge trend this year.  I like that Reese wore them but did not get too out of control with the color.  Bright blue tights may be all the rage on Gossip Girl, but they may be a look you will regret in a few months.

Also, I apologize for the lack of posting the past few days.  I have been busy busy busy styling photoshoots.  I can't wait to share some of the finished products with you!

Add This to My Wish List

Note to Readers:
It is official, I have Spring fever. As I was looking through the Louis Vuitton Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear collection, I found this lovely look. Oh Marc (Jacobs), you always have something in each of your collections that I would love to see in my closet.  Everything from the shape of the dress, to the delicious watermelon color, to the adorable shoes, are delightful.  I wish I could wear this entire look to a wedding on a warm summer night. I love this look, love the designer, love the incoming season. Maybe the news is "gloom and doom" lately, but today all it took was a Louis Vuitton dress and a little sunshine to brighten my mood.

PS. No comments in practically forever... is anyone still out there?

Spring is Here!

Note to Nicole Richie:
I love this look on you. Generally I think long dresses, like this one, do not look good on petite women. You proved me wrong.  I love the unique print of the this vintage dress on you, and I think the sleeves and back of the dress make it interesting. You are definitely rocking a bohemian vibe, and it suits you.

Note to Readers:
I can not even tell you how happy I am that spring is here.  The sun is out, and I am ready to start wearing shorts, dresses, skirts, and everything else that has been buried in the back of my closet for the past few months. This spring we will be seeing a lot of romantic styles and floral prints, and I can't wait!

If you are going to wear a maxi-dress (I hate the name, but you know what type of dress I am talking about), make sure the dress does not overwhelm you.  This is why I am a little wary about petite women wearing them, but don't worry Nicole has proven you petite body types can still wear them and look fabulous.  Make sure there is enough fabric to create the look you want, but not so much that you can barely see yourself hidden in the dress. I hope that helps. Dresses are a great way to keep cool during the hot summer months.

Beautiful Almost Brides

Note to Claire Danes:
You and Hugh Dancy recently became engaged, well done on both sides. I almost always admire your style. You generally have sophisticated taste and you favor classic designers like Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, and Narciso Rodriguez. You also frequently wear your friend Zac Posen's designs.  I am looking forward to seeing what kind of wedding dress you select. I picture you in a Carolyn Bessette Kennedy-like sheath. Please release at least one photo of your wedding, so I can see what kind of dress you select.

Note to Rachel Bilson:
As revealed in a previous post, I adore your style. You can dress like a bohemian hipster one day, and then wear a gown on the red carpet at night, and you do the transition between the two almost flawlessly. Rumor has it, you are engaged to Hayden Christensen. I'm not going to lie, I have always been hoping for a reconciliation between you and Adam Brody, but that is just from an outsider's viewpoint, so if you are happy, I'm happy. I bet you have a few designers begging to make your wedding dress, but you are also a designer, so I am interested to see if you design your own dress. Only time will tell what you decide to wear on your big day.

Note to Readers:
I've written a couple of posts before about Bridal Beauty and I probably will write many more. I love seeing what kind of dress a bride picks for her wedding dress, because it is one of the ultimate fashion statements a woman makes. I have yet to select a wedding dress, but my tip to all brides-to-be is to make sure your personality shows in your dress, and make sure the dress does not overwhelm you. You should be wearing the dress, not the other way around. Also, avoid selecting anything too trendy, because photos last forever (sometimes longer than the marriage).

Really Britney?

Note to Britney:
This is a costume from your Circus tour. Are you serious? I have no problem with concert costumes being sexy and adorned with sequins, but this is just a joke. I read that Dsquared designed your costumes for the tour, but I don't want to believe it! I mean really Brit, tassels?

Note to Readers:
Remember when watching a Britney performance was exciting? Everything from the choreography to the costumes were amazing, and she pretty much looked like what you wished you could look like if you spent all of your awake hours at the gym. If not, I'll refresh your memory.

This outfit plays up her sex appeal and amazing figure, without the use of a tassel. How can we bring this Britney back?

Here We Go Again

Note to Dancing With the Stars:
Your new season kicks off tonight. I am excited to see what combinations of sequins, sheer mesh, and flourescent fabric are used to make the costumes. It always cracks me up to see the men with their shirts completely unbuttoned exposing their waxed chests. Lil Kim is a contestant this season. She has been known to wear pasties on the red carpet, so who knows what she will (or won't) wear on the dance floor! This should be interesting.

Note to Readers:
I do not really have any tips about how to dress like the Dancing With the Stars cast. Their costumes are a style that should be admired, but not even attempted to be duplicated.

Bravo Balmain

Note to Christophe Decarnin:
I am infatuated with your Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear Balmain collection. From the skinny capri-length jeans, to the exaggerated shoulders, to the funky mini-dresses, you really had a strong collection. I liked that a lot of what you presented can be worn on a night out. While I enjoy a dramatic fashion show, I like that you kept the model's hair and makeup simple, and let the clothes be the main focal point. Well done.

Note to Readers:
Thanks for coming back after the delay. Next week I am going to be writing about some of the fashion dos and don'ts I saw while in Las Vegas. It is one of my favorite places to people watch.

Back to Fashion Week, this week the shows are in Paris. This is arguably where the creme de la creme get to have their fashion shows. If you want to check out what the designers have on the runways for next fall, style.com is a great place to start. I like to look at the shows for inspiration, and then try to figure out how I can incorporate new trends into my look. I hope you all have as much fun with the new fashions as I do.

Viva Las Vegas

Note to Readers:
I will be on a blogging hiatus until Friday. Sorry to leave you, but I wanted to let you know so you didn't think I was abandoning you. Thanks for reading my blog. I adore you all.
