Nicely Done

Note to Natalie Portman:
As I looked at this photo I thought about how I loved your mustard color dress, especially how you paired it with tights and a blazer. Then I read that your dress was from the Rodarte collection for Target, and I loved this whole look a little bit more. Thank you for showing that you can get a dress from Target, wear it to an event, and look fabulous. So Natalie, you shop at Target... I shop at Target, I think this means we were destined to be friends. Don't you agree?

Note to Readers:
I love that Target brings in amazing designers to produce small, limited-time collections. I love Rodarte but unfortunately their beautiful work is not in my budget. Until now. Thanks Target.

Now if only we could get people to stop calling it "Tar-zhay" (insert eyeroll here).

LOOOOVE.

Note to Emma Watson:
The Spring/Summer 2010 Burberry Campaign was just released, and I am OBSESSED with your lilac coat. The sleeves are TDF (to die for), and the color is perfectly pretty for spring. I hope you got to keep the coat. You will definitely be the best dressed girl on campus in that number.

Note to Readers:
Usually I like it when actresses stick to acting and models stick to modeling. There are a few exceptions though, I love seeing Ellen Degeneres in the cover girl ads (but I think that is just because I love Ellen, she is so funny). This is Emma Watson's second round of Burberry ads, and I have liked both of them so far. What do you think about models and actresses crossing over into each others' territory?

Red Haute!

Note to Penelope Cruz:
Despite the cold winter weather, you were sizzling at the Nine premiere. The color of this Chanel dress is so captivating, it is hard to notice the gorgeous draping. I can not get over how stunning this color is. Well done Penelope. Also I can't wait to see the movie (much to my boyfriend's dismay).

Note to Readers:
Is it just me or is this color to die for? Maybe I am going out on a limb here, but I think that us mere mortals could also be head-turning show-stoppers in this dress. Not to say that Penelope isn't wearing this dress well, but imagine showing up to a formal Christmas party in this number. I think I will dream of this exact scenario tonight.

Have fun with your holiday wardrobe. This goes to show a little color and glamour go a LONG way.

Change it Up!

Note to Taylor:
YOUR HAIR IS STRAIGHT! I think you are darling, but my one complaint (and it is a small one) is that your hair always has the same curled look to it. The curls are great, but I have been looking for some diversity, and voila! Don't abandon the curls entirely, just alternate a few new looks here and there.

Also, if you are dating Taylor Lautner, bravo. I saw New Moon, and he is looking BEYOND good.

PS. I love your scarf.

Note to Readers:
Sometimes it is easy to get into a style rut. Whether it be hair, clothes, shoes or accessories, sometimes when something works we stick to it.

I, for example, can not wear jeans that aren't skinny or cigarette leg anymore. I have been wearing them for so long that if I put on a different silhouette I feel like I am wearing baggy bellbottoms. I am working on it though, I promise.

So... the key is not to abandon your trademark item (or look) entirely, just to mix some variety into the look. Like Taylor straightening her curls. We have to keep our looks from getting boring.

Loss

Note to Daul Kim:
There are no words. The world of fashion will have a void without your bright smile, creativity and unparalleled style. Rest in peace, pretty Daul.

Note to Readers:
We lost one of fashion's brightest stars last week. I am at a loss of words. Please click here to see some of Daul's finest moments.

O.M.Gag.

Note to Leighton Meester:
I don't understand what is happening here. I just don't know why you would wear these awful (unflattering and see-through pants) while you are trying to gain respect as a legitimate singer. Are you trying to show the world you are not your fashion-forward Gossip Girl character? Done.

Note to Readers:
I'll admit it, I like Gossip Girl. The fashion alone makes the show worth watching. I guess I thought because Leighton's character Blair is fashionably infallible, I though Leighton was too. My mistake. Usually I love the way she dresses in real life, maybe that is why this is so confusing to me.

Someone call Doroda, Leighton needs her help.

Shout Out

Note to Readers:
Last week on a local morning show (kind of like a local version of The View), the editor of a magazine I write for, Wasatch Woman, talked about an article I wrote. Actually the host brought up the article, and then they showed photos from the accompanying shoot I styled. It was kind of cool to see them talking about my work!

Here is the video... enjoy! (my article is the first one they talk about, Holiday Must-Haves)

Side Note: Look closely when they show the Violet Hunter Boots, recognize the legs wearing them?
